AUDI RS 7 REVEAL – 2013 DETROIT AUTO SHOW
The 2014 Audi RS7 Quattro debuted in a unique way for the world’s press. Audi’s press conference immediately followed that of rival BMW, which happened mere feet away at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
A large white cloth was the only thing on the stage floor. The jam-packed hall, full of journalists, watched magician Florian Zimmer, accompanied by an ensemble of ladies in black, lift the white cloth. Almost instantly, the brand new Audi RS7 Quattro came into view.
The Audi RS7 Quattro simply materialized.
Illusion Projects worked closely with performer Florian Zimmer and Audi’s German headquarters to design and create the equipment for the project. The car was revealed on a platform that came up from the flat floor of the Audi booth. Once the presentation was complete, the platform with the car lowered back to the floor so the car could drive off to a turntable for the press photos. The platform system was a custom designed hydraulic scissor lift unit that had to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the booth.
Illusion Projects CAD simulation allowed other vendors to check integration of all elements prior to the unit arriving at the Detroit auto show. Illusion Projects supplied on site staff to handle the installation of the system and operation for the one-time event.
