It’s not every day that Illusion Projects is asked to build a 10′ diameter flying saucer.
So when George Harris, CEO of Alien Tequila, asked them just that – they had to say yes. The saucer was designed for use at promotional events for the Alien Tequila brand. The Illusion Projects team designed the display to break down into sections for easy installation and transport for each time it was to be used. The company slogan an abduction in every bottle was etched into the aluminum around the edge for the saucer. Programmable LED lighting illuminated the saucer edge. For the center of the saucer, Tim decided a small alien should be in control. The Illusion Projects team was let loose on designing and building a cockpit, control panel and pilots chair. They came up with some great little details including control levers and a lit control panel. The alien was molded rubber which was then hand painted.
The first installation of the saucer was for the Global Gaming Expo at the Sands convention center in Las Vegas. It drew quite a crowd and could be seen from across the convention room.
